I have to go to AI. Is that going forward?

Recently, I was given five goals I am expected to accomplish before it’s time for evaluations this year. The goals were run through AI, so honestly, I don’t know WTF I read. It takes the simplest language and turns it into this weird corporate jabber that’s hard to understand. It would have been much better if someone had written out what they want me to do in plain English so I could get it done.

Many companies are making it almost mandatory that their employees being AI into their everyday lives. Supposedly, it is billed as a time saver. I think it’s dumbing people down. “But Becky, you could make this report sound so much better. Actually, we want it to sound more put together.” Becky is probably sitting there shacking her head because Becky has a degree in English and writing. She knows how to put together a report and she has a wonderfully expansive vocabulary. Now, she’s being told to run her report through AI which is going to take her report and twist it into AI language. It will most likely sound utterly ridiculous by the time it’s complete. Those above her will either not care in the slightest or think she’s lost her mind.

I’m trying to keep my mind in a positive space. I’ve completed soome simple questions in AI. What’s the best way to grow rosemary in my yard? What is the best coffee maker? Can AI help me with genealogy stuff? Just simple questions that I throw at it. I have also recently used Grok to look over a spreadsheet of testing results I completely recently. Sure, it looked it over. Did it find something that anyone else with eyes couldn’t see? Absolutley not. It told me everything that I already knew. The only thing it did was put it in words that anyone could have said if they just looked at it.

Is this what AI is supposed to be doing for me? One of the five goals I have been given is to use AI to find a way to automate or simplify something that I do on a daily basis. Why would I want to hand my job over to a computer? Wouldn’t that give people in higher positions a reason to think that my job isn’t deserving of a person? It’s all crazy to me. More and more data centers are being built around the country and just that fact is telling me that people are wanting to do away with human capital. People want to work and feel needed. That’s not what’s happening. What’s happening is quite the opposite. Hopefully, one day soon, someone will realize that and we can go back to people doing meaningful work without AI threatening with every knew program.
