This past Monday evening, I wanted to try something new. For all my years, I had never deep fried chicken. Ugh, thank God I’ve at least made damn good sweet tea. I cured that offense this week as I decided to attempt the temptable.
I had a large package of chicken legs. It was on sale so I bought it. Normally, I would not have bought them since I don’t like the legs. The gristle in them freaks me out when I bite into it. With the other parts, except for dummies on the wings, you don’t have to worry about it. My favorites are thighs and breasts. Yeah, I’m a breast guy…with chickens.
I have to say, I was very proud of myself. I cracked three eggs into a bowl along with a good bit of hot sauce (it definitely could have been hotter) and some whole milk. I then put my flour into another bowl along with black pepper, Slap Ya Mama seasoning, cayenne, and paprika. I coated it with the wet mixture then rolled it in the dry. I then put it into the fridge so that the coating could dry out. You don’t want to put wet chicken into the oil. When it came out, it was the best color and it was so crispy.
It won’t be next week, but I do believe I’ll be making this again.
