I am a lover of sushi. I admit it wholeheartedly! I will eat sushi and sashimi until the cows come home or until I can’t eat anymore. There are a few things I just can’t or don’t eat as either. I don’t like eel so I do not order it. I can’t eat sea urchin as the taste makes me almost wretch. I’ve only had it at one sushi restaurant and I chocked it down with some Diet Coke. I vowed to never have it again.
Tonight, the husband decided to go have dinner with a friend of his while I was in a meeting. I got through with the meeting and I decided to go get sushi. Since we live a ways from our normal Asian restaurants, I had to do some searching for something nearby. I have wanted to find a place to go since we moved up here. We went to one but it ended up feeling….well, fru-fru. It didn’t feel authentic in the slightest. When we walked in the door, it felt weird. We ate there because we said we wanted to try it. It wasn’t going to be our favorite.
I found a place here called Kumo Sushi & Ramen and decided to take a chance. I am so very thankful that I did. The wait staff was so nice and the sushi chef was happy and talkative. I thought I was going to sit there and eat while reading, but after reading a page and thinking about what I was eating, that plan flew out the window. I had a spicy tuna roll, a salmon roll, yellowtail nigiri, tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, and all of those as sashimi as well. There was even an imitation crab stick in the mix. I’ll think of that as just something to add some humor to the plate. With lots of wasabi to clear out the sinuses and the pickled ginger to freshen my breath afterwards, I was set to go. As an extra bonus, I had a small seaweed salad and a small bowl of miso soup. I couldn’t have been a happier person sitting at that sushi bar. The staff definitely deserved the tip I left.
After leaving the sushi restaurant, I needed something to erase the wasabi and knew exactly what I needed. In direct sight after backing out of the parking space, I saw Bruster’s ice cream shop. I got two scoops of Pumpkin Cheesecake in a small bowl. Heavenly! They change up their flavors quite often so I had to look over their menu and my eyes landed on that flavor. In a few days, I’ll allow myself to go to Dairy Queen to get a Pumpkin Pie Blizzard. I have to at least get one every year.
My stomach could not be happier at this moment. I can’t say that I’m stuffed. It’s been at least 10-20 minutes since I ate so much of it has passed on by. I can certainly make it through the next 24 hours without needed to eat. I may have to do that anyway if my anxiety gets the best of me on Election Day here in the states. Ugh.
