The Gay Life of a Country Boy

People used to get into politics to do something for the world. What has it become in 2024?

You learn something new every day. Sometimes, it’s something that can push you further in this world. Other times, it’s something that snatches you back. I have to say, today is definitely a snatch back day.

I had no idea that there was a party in the UK called the Monster Raving Loony Party. I knew the Tory Party, Labour Party, Green Party, and the Reform Party. But this new party totally escaped me.

I first heard the name of the Loony Party when I was watching a video of the UK election results. The guy sauntered up to the stage in a fuzzy Santa Clause type jacket and a top hat. He couldn’t have looked more out of place in a group of nicely dressed people awaiting the results. I was taken aback by how many votes he received. When it was read how many he had received, he said, “I thank you!” I thought I was listening to an old British comedy routine. Seriously, my brain was like….WTF am I watching?

I then watched a news article on Yahoo News and I saw this guy that looked disfigured. I thought maybe he had been in a fire. I even googled for a UK candidate that was disfigured. Nothing showed up that matched what I saw. Tonight, I was checking out Apple News and an article popped up with Who was the man in the beans mask next to Jacob Rees-Mogg? as the article name. I clicked on the link and there was the disfigured guy. He was an actual candidate with a bean mask! A political candidate with a bean mask as if he was about to participate in a WWE ring.

Can you imagine if Joe Biden or Barack Obama had appeared with a mask on like some kind of lucha libre? We’d see them as an escaped mental patient. These people showed up as candidates for a national election. I can’t imagine. It makes me think of the flying spaghetti monster movement. Here’s these crazy assed people with this absurd platform of insane ideas trying to get people to vote for them. I’m sure there are like minded crazy ass people that voted for them, but how could they think that enough people would vote for them to get the office. Thinking about it hurts my head. I’m going to have a drink and go slide into bed. With Stupid Drump running here in the states, we can’t really call other countries weird.
