I haven’t been posting much about the recent quest for me to lose weight, but I have tried to be in the gym each day (minus one or two days) for the past two weeks. I have lost 4 lbs. (1.81 Kg) since I started. You may ask what my reason is for starting back in the gym. I’ll answer that very frankly.
MY ASS HAS GROWN ALONG WITH MY STOMACH! 🙁
That’s right…I have gained too much weight back and it has affected me in my closet. It has affected my self-esteem too, but it’s not good when you have to go out and buy all new dress clothes because all the clothes you have no longer fit. I was so sad while looking around the Macy’s men’s section because I couldn’t find what I really wanted. I wanted pleated khaki pants with the leg bottoms rolled up once and sown that way. It took a while to find them, and by that time, I was tired of shopping. I did find some great gray pants that I liked along with a few shirts.
There was one thing I am not pleased with when it comes to what I bought and it seems like you can’t get away from it in this day of men’s fashion. I’m speaking of the Fat Forgiveness Waistbands. Do you know what I mean? It’s this sad invention of placing elastic in the waistband of men’s dress pants so that if you gain a few pounds, the elastic “forgives” you. I absolutely detest it! Can you please make my pants to where they fit me? I have a pair of 32 waist khakis and they fit me like they should be 33 or 34 in the waist. I feel like I’m wearing pants my grandmother would buy, not knowing what my size was. They are looked over quite often.
I would love to get back down to a 30 or 31 in the waist and I would also love to get back down below 160 lbs. (72.57 Kg). I felt fantastic when I was around 156 and could see lots of muscle. I need a trainer to scream and hollar and support me to lift more. That’s what I had before and it helped tremendously. I have started running again. Today, I ran for 22 mins and my distance was 2.17 miles (3.49 km) and I burned 267 calories. I missed the gym on Wednesday, but both Monday and Tuesday, I ran 1.25 miles (2.01 km). I’ll get on the topic of pain later, but I do get a pain under my right ribcage when I run. It’s weird but it’s enough to slow me down some.
I’ll post about the progress every now and then. I am participating in a fitness program with my friend Greg over at Undies 101 along with the writers from that blog. I’ll be occasionally posting to both about my success and hopefully very few failures.
